Ketogenic Diet – Shall I Go for It?

I recently went to visit a doctor for a check up since I feel sluggish, I feel depressed most of the time, I have back ache, shortness of breath and have a heart burn sensation. All of which are not normal for me. To cut the story short I found out that I am overweight. I felt really sad since growing up I have been skinny. Maybe that’s also one of the reasons why I think that I will never get fat / overweight. Being skinny most of your life is not a free pass. I felt sad after I have learned the results and I was a bit offended when my doctor suggested for me to go on a ketogenic diet. After a few days of sulking I decided to learn more about it.

Important Terms Defined

According to Medical News Today:

Ketosis is a normal metabolic process. When the body does not have enough glucose for energy, it burns stored fats instead; this results in a build-up of acids called ketones within the body.

Some people encourage ketosis by following a diet called the ketogenic or low-carb diet. The aim of the diet is to try and burn unwanted fat by forcing the body to rely on fat for energy, rather than carbohydrates.

Believe to Achieve

After being in a denial stage I finally came to my senses and realize that it is not too late. That my doctor is really trying to help me to get better. No matter what other people around me say or suggest about losing weight, it’s always up to me to make the first move. Since I took the step to learn more, I wanted to go deeper and see how can I do this successfully. Along the way I have found some interesting inspirations.

According to healthline:

A ketogenic diet is an effective way to lose weight and lower risk factors for disease (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).

In fact, research shows that the ketogenic diet is far superior to the often recommended low-fat diet (2, 14, 15, 16).

What’s more, the diet is so filling that you can lose weight without counting calories or tracking your food intake (16).

The more I learn, the more I am wanting to get on this. Since I am not really a good cook (but most certainly willing to learn), the initial struggle that came to my mind is what would be the meals that I wold prepare. Good thing I have found shortcutketo.com which contains the answers to my queries. This would help me a lot in terms of meal preparation because there’s a lot of keto cookbooks to choose from. I love the idea that this can help me lose weight without starving myself. I choose to believe in myself, in the plan, with my doctor and the people around me that I can achieve this.
